Prince Luc

Prince Luc (Luckner Candio) was born in Cayes, Jacmel in 1977. He was adopted by artist Prince Jean Jo. Prince Jean Jo, a well known Haitien Artist introduced Luc to painting by encouraged him to paint In time Prince Luc’s paintings began to get noticed and soon his paintings started to sell. Jean Jo passed away when Prince Luc was 18.This experience of loss was so devastating, he didn’t paint for a year. Roi David, another famous Artist in Haiti, persuaded him to paint again. Prince Luc was deeply influenced by teachers from both Europe, and the United States. The teachers gave classes in FOSAJ. They offered courses in painting, drawing, the theory of color, and other aspects of arts, such as dance and theatre. He has collaborated with Préféte Duffaut and exhibited his art globally. He became director of Fosaj Art Center in Jacmel and still holds this position today. His art is being purchased and displayed throughout hotels, galleries and homes throughout numerous countries.
